Note: Obituary: Beachwood - Dorothy L. Feirer, a retired schoolteacher and an honorary trustee of Community Memorial Hospital, Toms River, Died Tuesday at the hospital. Mrs. Feirer, 71, lived at 208 Barnegat Blvd. She was born in New York and moved here in 1937. Mrs. Feirer retired in 1979 after teaching for 19 years in the Berkeley Township school district. She taught at the Bayville Elementary School. Mrs. Feirer was instrumental in the founding of Community Memorial Hospital and was one of three persons elected to its first board of trustees. At the time of her death, she was an honorary trustee of the hospital and was a member of its Redwood Twig Society. She attended the University of Alabama and was a lifetime member of a university sorority. Mrs. Feirer was a charter member of the Modern Muses Women's Club of Toms River and served as its president from 1942 to 1944. She also was secretary of the Beachwood Yacht Club. Surviving are her husband, Edward W., here; a son, Ward E., Nyack, N.Y., a brother, William Withington, Whiting, Manchester Township, and a granddaughter. The Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home, Toms River, is in charge of arrangements. According to Raymond, she was a good teacher, well liked by students and parents. Attended University of Alabama 2 years. Interred Riverside Cemetary, Toms River NJ Another obituary indicates she taught 12 years in the Bayville School System before retiring.
