a. Note:   Lived at various West New York New Jersey addresses until 1927 when family moved to Palisades Park, NJ.(See brother William record).
  After Mother's death in 1928, and father's remarriage in 1929, moved to Richmond, VA with father.
 Ran away and hitchhiked back to NJ(1934). Lived in West New York and attended Memorial HS. Later moved to Weehawken and lived with sister. Worked with Tony in plumbing business.
  1936-37 went to work at Aluminum Company of America in Edgewater, NJ as forklift operator.
 Moved in with Knapp family at 12 Brinkerhoff Terrace, Palisades Park to be closer to work. Knapp
 family had known Lawrence before mother's death through their son, Arthur, in school and church.
 Served in Army Air Force in World War II. After basic training in Mississippi, transferred to Greenville Army Air Base in Greenville, SC(was there in Dec 1942 and March 1943).
 By Christmas 1943 was in Italy with 434th Squadron, 12th Bomb Group.
 1944 Christmas card came from Corsica, Italy. He flew 59 missions, in a B25 bomber over oil fields of southeast Europe. Served as a flight engineer and aerial photographer. Once as a tail gunner. Brother says he was shot down twice.
 Discharged from service as a staff sergeant. At least two purple hearts for injuries to head and leg, metal plate in each.
 After War, in August 1945,legally changed name to Knapp in order to get job with New York Daily News as a photo engraver. At time of death, was assistant foreman of photoengraving department. Mr. Knapp had a job with The News and claimed Lawrence as a relative.
  Was a volunteer fireman, Hose Co 1, in Palisades Park. Knapp house was on Brinkerhoff Ave., one block from the firehouse. When the fire siren went off, Lawrence was always the first fireman to the firehouse and therefore always drove the fire engine.
  Married at Presbyterian Church, Palisades Park. 11 Apr 1951
 Moved to 13 Beulah Place, Bergenfield after marriage.
 Baptized at home - 402 58th Street, West New York.

 1960 - Interred 2 Sep 1960. Died at Bergen Pines Hospital, Paramus
