David MacDonald was one of the original 19 members and one of the first trustees of the Baptist Church in English Neighborhood(now Fairview) in 1848. In 1864, he was a member of the building committee to build the first permanent structure. The church was disbanded in 1880. p548 David McDonald, the father of Jeremiah, the first victim of cholera, kept a grocery in one part of the old Deezer hotel, but after the death of Henry Tracy, he purchased the property and continued business at that stand.
