 Death Certicicate, NJ Archives Widowed. Died at 4 Ocean Pathway, Neptune
 Had lived in Neptune for one month and fourteen days before death.
 During Civil War, wrote letter from a camp near Bell Landing, Virginia 2/2/1863
  Fought at Battle of Gettysburg and captured July 1,1863(the first day of the
 battle). 83rd and 97th NY Infantry were both stationed north of Gettysburg
 where the Confederates won a decisive battle over Union troops. Prisoners were
 marched to Richmond which is at least 186 miles from Gettysburg.
 Imprisoned on Bell Island(in the James River at Richmond) and Libby prison(in
 Richmond). Honorably discharged in Washington D.C. 5/29/1865 as corporal.
 Served Company C 83rd N.Y. Infantry and Company C 97th N.Y. Infantry.
  Hospitalized at DeCamp USA General Hospital, David's Island, New York Harbor,
 from Nov 1863 to Aug 1864. Deserted from 16 Nov 1863 to 14 Mar 1864.
 Application for military pension in 1912 states he lived at 414 Maple St in
 Arlington, NJ. Application states that "vericose veins formed on leg when on
 march to Richmond from Gettysburg as a prisoner in July 1863. Kidney ____after
 having measles and chronic diarrhea on Bell Island as a ____." Application
 says he is a clerk and "totally unfit to perform any manual labor."
 Residences since service-Fairview Bergen 6 1882 to Kearny and Arlington.
 Application shows he had three children:
 Edmund E. Engle b 18 Dec 1870
 Lulu D. Engle b 21 Mar 1878 m William Wanstall
 Eugene Engle b 12 Aug 1882 Died sometime between 1898 and 1915.
 William Wanstall lived at 414 Maple St, Arlington at time of A.S. Engle's
 death.
