Notes
a. Note:   Info from Christian's obituary: "At the age of five years he came to St. Paul with his parents and in 1863 moved to Sauk Centre where he grew to manhood. He died from burns received in a grass fire on his farm north of Verndale. Mr. Miller made his first visit to Verndale over seventy years prior to his death. At that time there were only two Claim sites in the territory that is now Verndale and Stowe Prairie. He lived there but two years before moving to the southern part of the state. A few months after Mr. Miller's first visit to Verndale he was called upon to make a wooden coffin for a child of Charlie Brown's, who was buried in the present town site and was believed to be the first white child buried at Verndale." At this time I am not positive that Christian Miller's parents were Christian and Mary Miller but they are listed in the 1870 Federal Census in the Sauk Centre area and a son Christian is living with them. Also in the household are: William, age 14, Mary Ann age 10, Jacob age 9, Andrew age 5, John age 3 and Mandy (sp?) age 9/12.
