Justin was listed as a photographer in the 1870 U.S. Census. He was a coal miner in Ohio, made violins by hand, one went to the St. Louis Fair. By By From your Granddaughter Violet From the June 24, 1870 Census of Washington County, Waterford Township, Beverly City, Post Office of Lowell, Ohio, Justin Steel Randolph and Family were living or boarding in the household of (Dorcas) Fletcher. I have reason to believe they were there because their house had burned down. The 1870 census also gives Justin's age as being 28 years old. We know that is not correct. It should have been 38. According to Justin Steel Randolph's pension application, Lorenda B. Price died October 8,1883.Application Number 729809 CIVIL WAR Service Record: Enlisted as a Private on 04 January 1864 at the age of 21 Enlisted in Company G, 18th Infantry Regiment Ohio on 04 January 1864. Reg't Ohio Infantry on Jan.4th,1864 at Nelsonville,Ohio for a term of 3 years. Eyes were Hazel,Hair Brown,Complexion Fair,Height 5ft.6in. Mustered in Jan.15th,1864 in Marietta,Ohio. Occupation Listed as Artist. Joined Company G-and listed on Company Muster Roll-Jan. and Feb.,1864.Listed as present on Company Muster Roll-March and April.
