Notes
a. Note:   That about puts "Mickey" to rest for good. He made it to Lead SD, Faro Dealer, then on to Sheridan, Wyo., it seems. Interesting that he recalls his mom "born at sea" We saw that same notation in an earlier Iowa census, must be a fact. His mom was "The Good Woman" - "Maggie Me Girl" Hogan of the Philadelphia Hogans, out of Co. Meath, Ire. Now, we find she was a lil' stow-a-way - when she arr. NY--or Philly - like 1836-1840? She was m. 1856 - they say about 16 yrs old - that would put her birth 1840-give-or-take--. And that was b4 Mr. Ellis put us his Isle. BORN AT SEA - to Irish Immigrant parents ! There's a gal without a country ! No wonder she fled to Iowa on a covered wagon to hide out in a log cabin with dirt floor. Sounds like a budding unabomber to me. [From his notes in FTM - Matt ] Michael left home as a young man and "went west". Shall we say c. 1878 when he was about 20 years. In1928 he was found in Sheridan, WY. by his niece, Kitty Hickey O'Toole [ on honeymoon ]. He was working in a bar-joint - cards, gambling, booze - that kind of business, in a railroad town. He had apparently kept in touch a bit, otherwise aunt Kitty would not have found him. 'Tis said he died in Sheridan, unmarried, etc. Years later Matt asked of him at the Mint bar in Sheridan...no one recalled him. Now, 2007 - Tim Lynch finds these: [Copy by Jeannine] So. Dakota, Lead. 1900 Census. SD 1, ED29 Sh4, Line 64. 29 Mill, Hickey "Mickey" M W B. June 1858, 41 Yrs Sngl, Lodger B.
