a. Note:   GREGORY, Mr. Macklin "Mac" Age 81 Of Portage Passed away Tuesday, April 15, 2008 at Rose Arbor Hospice. Mac was born in Grand Rapids, June 11, 1926, the son of L.J. and Jennie (Postema) Gregory. He was a firefighter with the Grand Rapids Fire Department for seven years and then moved to Kalamazoo where he owned the Detroit Free Press Agency for 25 years. Then he became co-owner of RE/MAX Advantage Real Estate on Westnedge and Stadium Drive for over 20 years. Mac served his country in the U.S. Army, 163rd Infantry Division during WWII. He was a member of the VFW Comstock Post 6252, LOOM #88 and Portage Eagles Aerie 3531. He was preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine Farrington Gregory, on September 16, 1980. Surviving are his three children, Kathy (Terry) Whitney of Miami, FL, Mike Gregory of Kalamazoo, and Carol Tucker and Mike Liapakis of Scotts; six grandchildren, Nicole Shiring, Jennifer (Jeffrey) Servello, Keon Tucker, Kristin, Jessica and Mark Gregory; four great-grandchildren, Caden and Colby Shiring, Zachery and Whitney Servello; two sisters, Irene (Rod) Maat of Zeeland and Mary Jean (Bill) Evoy of Grand Rapids; his brother, Carl (Bea) Gregory of Grand Rapids; several nieces and nephews; long time friend, Carolyn Gianunzio and her daughter, Sonya Hunter. Family and friends are being received at the funeral home where services will be held 11 o'clock Friday morning with Pastor James Dyke officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park. Contributions in his memory may be made to West Michigan Cancer Center or Hospice of S.W. MI. The family will be at the funeral home from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 on Thursday. (Posted by a VOLUNTEER-NO family connection) Mack enjoyed watching M*A*S*H and would always alert us come into the room to watch "the jiggle," the point in the opening sequence when the nurses run toward the camera. He cooked 2 things: Mack burgers and scalloped potatoes & ham. He enjoyed going up north every year to go deer hunting.
