Note: Obituary in Traverse City Record-Eagle, page 15. Monday, March 17, 1980 Traverse City -- Irvin Leroy Gary, 79, of Traverse City, died at his home Saturday. He was a retired contractor. Mr. Gary was born May 8, 1900 in Falls City, Neb., the son of James and Ella Gary. He was married March 15, 1924, in Traverse City to Dorothy Nelson. She survives. Also surviving are two sons, Murmen L. of Traverse City; and Irving F. of Grand Rapids; one daughter, Maxine Phipps of Grand Rapids; and one sister, Anna Burnett of Springfield, Ore.; 19 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. He was a resident of the Traverse City area all his life and was a member of the Faith Reformed Church. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Faith Reformed Church, with the Rev. Warren Burgess officiating. Burial will be at the Evergreen Cemetery in Kingsley. Friends may call at the Martinson Covell Funeral Home. Memorials may be directed to the Michigan Lung Association.
