Kept atavern in MI. 23 May 1832, Lietenant, Co. 3 (Captain Seth Dunham) Major B. Jones, 3rdBrigade, Second Division, Michigan Militia, ordered out to repelIndians. Went overland to California for his daughter's health, but shedied enroute. He remained only a short time. From Dennis Miller: Jerimiah Tillotson was one of the first settlers of Steuben County, Indiana, settling in Fremont. He arrived in the Fall of 1835. Jerimiah built the first log home in Fremont, and his nephew, Demary Tillotson built the second. In 1818 Jerimiah went from Pittsford, New York to Sandusky, Ohio, and then sometime after that, on to Branch Co. Michigan. In 1835 he settled in Fremont, Indiana. He owned a tavern in Branch Co. Michigan. He also fought in the War of 1812, where he is listed as a Private in Captain William McKinstry's Co. 52nd New York Militia. His service Commenced January 2, 1814 and expired January 30, 1814. His pay for service was $7.48 dollars. This Regiment was also called Hopkin's 52nd New York Militia. He was also a Lieutenant in Co. 3 3rd Brigade, Second Division Michigan Militia. On May 23, 1832 this unit was ordered out to repel Indians. He also took one of his daughters to California for health reasons, but she died while on the trip. A Mr. Snow boarded with Mr. Tillotson, and was cultivating a patch of corn and potatoes without a fence about three miles east of Bronson, at a place now called "Snow Prairie."
