Taylor, age 40, is head of the household (William is thought to have died in 1859) She is living with her children: Joshua age 21, occupation farm laborer; William J. age 19, occupation farm laborer; Warren J. age 15, occupation farm laborer; Orin J. age 13, Ozias P. age 10, Sarah J. age 8, Mary J. age 6 and Catherine C. age 4. At an auction after her death on 8-3-1863, her personal property included a cow, a steer, sheep and a swine. Notice is hereby given that the undersigned administrator of the estate of Mary C. (Merrit) Taylor. Late of Steuben County, deceased, will offer for sale at the late residence of the decedent in York Township, Steuben County, on Saturday, August 20, 1863, the personal property of said estate consisting of a cow, a steer, sheep, swine, household furniture and various other articles. Sale to begin at 10 AM. Terms: Sums of three dollars and under, cash. Over three dollars a credit of six months will be given, the purchaser giving note at interest waiving valuation and appraisement laws, with approved security. Adam D. H. Kemper.
