a. Note:   Winifred's age was given as 5 on the 1852 census and states she was born in Canada. All other data shows Ireland as her birth place. She was 33 on the 1881 census. It is possible that 11 year old Thomas Jr. gave the information to the census taker, since his father's dates were not correct.
  The date used here is from her marriage record and her death registration.
 Winifred and Thomas were married at the 'Roman Catholic Chapel, Biddulph, by Reverand J. Gerard. The witnesses were Ellen Hogan and James Schahae. (Scahill)
  Winifred died of nephritis after an illness of 6 weeks. Her name was Winnifred (Scahill) Barrie on the cemetery transcription. #013243/97.
