a. Note:   The census records show the age at next birthday. Winifred as 30 in 1851/2; 40 in 1861; 60 in 1881.
  In 1851, there is a child, John, age 19 and single, too old to be Winifred's child so may be James sibling or his child by a previous Marriage. Also, two of the 'Schall' children, Mary (Honorah), 17 and Martin, 15 are actually Hogans, as shown in 1861. If Winifred was actually a few years older they could both be hers, by a previous marriage. It was common practice for women, and sometimes men, to take two years or more off of their age.
  The younger Scahill children were Anney (Honorah), 8; Winnie, 5 and Edward, 3. They lived next door to the Graces who had an 8 year old daughter, named Mariah Grace. She later married Martin Hogan.
  Discrepancies in the documents have errors that are probably attributable to difficulty with the language. More research is needed to be certain of these
 relationships.
