According to their account books, he was employed there 3/18/1801 to 9/03/1805; 1807; 4/11/1817 to 8/26/1817; 1/18/1818 to 5/1/1826. The furnace was used to produce iron.
Maskil's father-in-law also worked there and a William and Richard Stratton worked there as woodcutters. William from 1816-1823 and Richard from 1816-1819.
