Notes
a. Note:   He was in the Revolutionary War - wagonmaster, Berks Co. Militia, Hollenbach rosters. Although the roster didn't give him as being Captain, he was called Capt. Williams in some of the Hopewell Furnace account books. William owned land next to the furnace which was actually too hilly and stony to make good farmland. He sold 29 acres (located within a mile of Hopewell Furnace and within a mile of a little village called St. Mary's) of his farm to Joseph Whitaker. William was found in the Union Twp. tax lists of 1768 owning 200 acres, 2 cows, 1 horse, and 1 sheep. He was a woodcutter and all-around furnace man at Hopewell. He was also tax assessor for some years for Union Twp.
William may have lived in Amity Twp., Berks Co. before moving to Union Twp., Berks Co. If so, his parents were probably Joshua and Sarah Williams.
William's two marriages were found in a book called "The Berks County Records of the 18th Century, Pastoral Records of John Caspar Stover. The book gives William as being from Junyon Twp. when he married Rosina. Junyon is probably Union Twp., Berks Co. Also a marriage for William Williams and Rebecca McCaddoms was found in Cumberland Co. records of Rev. John Casper Stoever that they were married at Bethel; Cumberland's parent county being Lancaster Co.
