Note: 1888 or 1889 - July 8 - death of Bertha Stratton, wife of Robert. Bertha was buried in Arbon Cemetery, Blossburg. Her headstone reads wife of Robert Stratton - died July 8, 1888, age 22 years, 2 mos. and 2 days. *not known if their son, John Howard Stratton, was buried next to her*
1894 - March 7 - death of son, John Howard Stratton
1894 - Aug. 30 - Robert was age 30 when he and Susie were married. He was a coal miner at that time and resided in Arnot. Susie was age 32, housemaid, and resided in Liberty, Tioga Co., PA when she married Robert. Susie and her 1st husband were divorced Dec. 7, 1891. Her parents were George and Donleska Kinsman Sheffer; they were buried in Union Cemetery, Liberty Twp., Tioga Co., PA.
1896 - Oct. 5 - Susie died from Typhoid fever, duration of two weeks. She was buried in Union Cemetery, Liberty Twp., Tioga Co., PA.

1946 - Oct. 25 - Death certificate: Robert died 9:15 p.m. at Stanislaus County Hospital in Modesto from cardiac decompensation due to hypertensive cardiac-vascular disease with uremia as another condition. He was in the hospital for two days. The informant was Norman Condit of 305 Bonita, Modesto. The death certificate states he was a retired railroad engineer living at 221 California Ave., Modesto. His wife, Edith May Stratton, was deceased. It was also stated that Robert had lived in Modesto area for 27 years and in California for 30 years; so he made the move to CA in 1916.
1946 - October 26 - The Modesto Bee - Saturday - Robert J. Stratton, 80, Succumbs in Hospital - A retired railroad engineer, Robert J. Stratton, 80, died in a hospital here last night. A resident of California Avenue, he had lived here 27 years. Stratton was a native of Pennsylvania. He was the husband of the late Mrs. Edith Stratton and a brother to John M. Stratton of New York. Funeral services will be held Monday at 1:30 PM in the Shannon Chapel with the Rev. Harold C. Lougheed officiating. Interment will be in the Masonic Cemetery.
