Note: 1998 - Jan. 5 - Monday - The Daily and Sunday Review - Towanda: Blanche Thomas Bunn, 92, formerly a long-time resident of Ogdensburg and Canton, passed away Saturday morning Jan. 3, 1998 at the Highland Nursing Home in LaPorte, Pa. Blanche was born on Aug. 9, 1905 in South Union, Tioga County, Pa. She was a daughter of the late Frank and Nina Schmelzle Thomas. On Oct. 18, 1927, Blanche married Donald L. Bunn. Together the couple shared in the daily operations of their dairy farm located in Ogdensburg until 1966 when they retired and moved to Canton. Donald preceded Blanche in death on Aug. 23, 1985, following 58 years of marriage. Blanche was a member of the Ogdensburg Church of Christ and in earlier years played the piano and was active in the church. She later attended the Canton Church of Christ (Disciples of Christ). Blanche was also a member of the Ogdensburg Grange No. 293 and the Garden Club in Canton. Blanche loved to sing, work with flowers and was a talented seamstress which she displayed in her quilts and crafts. she is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Ruth and James Zeigler of Canton RD2; a daughter, Alice Buck of Kirkland, Wash.; nine grandchildren, Brenda Hilfiger of Canton, Craig Zeigler of Salladasburg, Pa., Chris Zeigler of Mt. Holly Springs, Pa., Chauncey Buck of Seabrook, Texas, Ty Buck of Boise, Idaho, Jeffrey Hart of Forksville, Pa., Jennifer Stabley of Hummelstown, Pa., Jon Hart of Williamsport, Pa.; 12 great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her husband, Blanche was predeceased by a daughter, Janet Hart; two brothers, Floyd and Melvin Thomas, and a sister, Dora Townsend. The family will receive friends Monday, Jan. 5, 1998, 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Pepper Funeral Home, Spring Brook Drive, Canton. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 6, 1998, at 11 a.m. at the Ogdensburg Church of Christ, with Rev. David B. Morris, officiating and Rev. Duane Taylor assisting. Interment will follow in the Ogdensburg Cemetery. The family suggests that memorials may be directed to the Ogdensburg Church of Christ, RR1, Box 168, Roaring Branch, PA 17765 or to the Canton Church of Christ, 40 N. Minnequa Ave., Canton, PA 17724 in Mrs. Bunn's memory.
