PA, waitress - restaurant Herbert Smouther, grandson, age 1, b. PA George Stratton, father-in-law, age 88, widowed, he and parents b. PA In November 1931, "Lilly" started work at Beach's music store in Canton. Canton Sentinel - Thursday, Dec. 10, 1936 - Mrs. A. Thomas died Tuesday evening, Dec. 8, 1936, in the Blossburg Hospital where she had been taken Sunday for treatment of a complication of diseases. Although she had been in poor health for some time, her death was unexpected and a great shock to her family and friends. Mrs. Thomas was born in Ogdensburg 57 years ago, but had lived in Canton for a number of years where her husband conducted a restaurant. She is survived by her husband and two daughters; Mrs. Laura Smouther of Canton, and Mrs. Lillian Watkins of Morris Run; a son, Herbert Thomas of Towanda; a grandson, Herbert Smouther of Canton; her father, George W. Stratton of Canton; two brothers, George Stratton of Hornell and Charles of Binghamton; four sisters, Mrs. Bevie King of Ogdensburg, Mrs. Madison Johnson of Avon, NY, and Mrs. Laura Ritter of Jersey Shore. The funeral will be held Saturday afternoon at 1:30 from her late home and at 2:00 in Ogdensburg Church. Interment will be in the nearby cemetery. Marriage of Lilly and Arthur on record at City Hall, Elmira.
