Note: John was always known as "Jack". Jack used to live in a small trailer on former Irvin land in Ogdensburg, located across the road from the general store. "Canton Independent-Sentinel", April 8, 1976, Canton, PA: John "Jack" P. King, 58, was found dead in his trailer home in Roaring Branch early Sunday morning April 4, 1976. Dr. Harry Williams of Elkland, Tioga County coroner, said Mr. King died of natural causes. Born in Ogdensburg April 28, 1917, he was the son of Matthew and Belvadere Stratton King. He had resided in the trailer home for the past year and a half. Mr. King was a veteran of World War 11. He had served from March of 1942 to December of 1945, seeing a year and nine months of duty in the European Theater. In August of 1948, he re-enlisted for another term and was finally separated from the service in 1950. During his last term, he served with occupation forces in Germany for a little over a year and a half. He is survived by one sister, Miss Eloise King of Mt. Alto, Pa.; one brother, Joseph King of Cleveland, Ohio; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services were held at the Ralph T. Kleese Funeral Home, 40 N. Center St., Canton, Wednesday morning at 10:30. Officiating was the Rev. Paul M. Baier, pastor of St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church in Canton. Burial was in St. Michael's Cemetery, Canton.
