Bennett, Milo Center Grocer, Dies in Hospital: Alfred J. Bennett, 65, of Milo Center, died in the Soldiers and Sailors Memorial hospital at Penn Yan Thursday, Aug. 4, 1949. He came to the Penn Yan area from Middlesex about 30 years ago and with a partner purchased the Buick agency from E. L. Geer. Later, when John J. McElligott took over the agency, Mr. Bennett was employed by the Hopkins and ?olley as salesman. About 10 years ago, with his wife, Mr. Bennett opened a grocery store in Milo Center, which his wife still manages. Besides his wife, Mrs. Pearl Bennett, he is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Leona Sutherland, at home; two brothers, Scott S. Bennett of Middlesex and George of Blossburg, Pa. Friends called at the Thayer funeral chapel until 2 p. m. Monday when services were conducted from there. The Rev. S. Bennett home from Florida Friday evening to spend the summer months.
