Burton R. Owens, 72, of RR2, Canton, died Sunday, May 31, 1992, at his home. Born April 2, 1920, in Delevan, N.Y., he was the son of Richard and Ethel Wheeler Owens. In 1945, he started as an area dairy farmer in Union Township, Tioga County, until 1964. In 1968 he began work as an industrial appraiser for Industrial Appraisals Inc., Pittsburgh, until he retired in 1985. He was a member of the Hamilton Club in Morris Run, and the Canton Poker Club. He was a former Canton Area School District board member and former Tioga County Democratic committeeman. He served with the U.S. Army-Air Force during World War 11. He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Spencer Owens. Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Judith and David Diraddo, of Napels, N.Y.; one son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Patricia Owens, of Vernon, Conn.; three brothers, Robert, Donald and Wesley, all of Delevan; two sisters, Sadie Parker and Martha Pixley, both of Delevan; nieces, nephews and cousins. There was no visitation or service. Arrangements were handled by Morse and Kleese Funeral Home, Canton. Memorial donations may be sent to the Memorial Day Fund, c/o Frances Shanley, RR2, Canton, Pa. 17724.
