Note: 1945 - Sept. 5 - Wed. - Wellsboro Agitator: FATALLY HURT BY FLYING BELT Francis Sparling Dies Thursday At The Blossburg Hospital Francis Sparling, aged 24 years, of Mansfield, R.D.3, was injured fatally on the farm of his father, Ward Sparling, on Route 660, near Mansfield, Thursday afternoon. He died soon after being taken to the Blossburg hospital. Sparling was repairing a broken belt on a hay baler when the belt snapped back and forced a bit of metal lacing into his side. He is survived by his widow; two children, Alfred, 17 months, and Harold, four months of age; his parents, brothers and sisters. 1945 - Sept. 12 - Wed. - Wellsboro Agitator: Francis Sparling, aged 24 years, of Mansfield, R. D., who was fatally injured Aug. 30 when a flying piece of metal from a hay baler pierced his side, was taken to the Blossburg hospital by his father-in-law, Alfred Pequignot, who was with him at the time of the accident. Sparling died soon after he was admitted to the hospital. Mr. Sparling had just started the hay baler when a large piece of metal broke loose and struck him in the side. He was thrown about eight feet. He is survived by his widow, the former Althea Pequignot; two sons, Alfred, 17 months, and Howard, 4 months; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ward Sparling, and sisters and brothers, Mrs. Clarence Harvey, of Canoe Camp; Mrs. Donald Sillaman, of California; Miss Ella Mae Sparling, of Mansfield, and Donald Sparling, of Blossburg
