1897 - July - Fri. - "The Blossburg Advertiser" - Liberty, Pa news: Elmer Sheffer, contractor and builder has built this season an elegant $3,000 dwelling for Daniel O. Hartsock, a residence for Ellis Messner, at East Point, a residence for Matt Shanley, of West Union, a residence for George Norman, on Briar Hill, and is now refitting the residence of Jacob Raker, two miles west of Liberty Boro.

Jersey Shore, Dec. 30 -Elmer E. Sheffer died at his residence, 943 Allegheny St., at 1:15 P.M. today. He had been in ill health for several months but had been confined to his bed for the past five weeks. Mr. Sheffer came to Jersey Shore about 30 years ago and had been engaged in the contracting business since that time. Many of the business places and residences in this vicinity were built by him. He came to Jersey shore from Blossburg, Pa. having been in the contracting business at that place. He is survived by his wife, one brother, of Montoursville, and a sister, Mrs. Mays, of Blossburg. He was an active member of various Masonic bodies and of the First Methodist Church. Funeral arrangements will be made later.
The Kelchner Funeral Home Records has Elmer's name as Oliver E. Sheffer of 943 Allegheny St., Jersey Shore. He died at his residence; his parents were Martin Sheffer and Margaret Beck. He was buried in Jersey Shore Cemetery.
