Note: Margaret was also known as "Bessie". In today's world, she would be called a liberated woman but in her time, she was no doubt considered improper and possibly "an old biddy". She made her own decisions, handled her own money, and dealt in real estate; all this before women gained the right to vote. In 1910, at the age of 80, she married Henry Miller, age 76, of Blossburg, PA. Although she was an aggressive woman, she did have a feminine side because she put her age as 74 on her and Henry's marriage application, to make her younger than her bride groom. In 1911, she made out a will and for some reason her new husband was not mentioned in it. She listed as heirs - her son, Jack; her granddaughters, Elsie Rutty VanSyckel, Bertha L. Ridge Townsend, and Edna Ridge Townsend; her grandsons, Henry (Harry) Rutty and Harry O. Ridge. 1850 - Nov. 2 - census - Liberty: Margaret Neal, age 20, b. Although there is no stone for her or inscription on Harrison's stone in Union Cemetery, Margaret was probably buried next to him because her death certificate states she was buried in Union Cemetery and cemetery records for Union Cemetery lists her as being buried there . Bastian Funeral Home Records did not list burial site.
