Feb. 1895, age 5 1901 - Jan. 2 - Wed. - The Agitator - Wellsboro: Death of Mrs. Howard A. Mitchell. The funeral of the late Mrs. Howard A. Mitchell was held in Arnot on Thursday from the home of her brother, Mr. A. R. Neal, and was followed by burial in Liberty township, in the cemetery of the Evangelical Church near her old home in Jackson township, Lycoming, just across the county line. The officiating clergyman was Rev. Albert Brown, pastor of the Arnot Presbyterian Church, of which Mrs. Mitchell was a member. Mrs. Mitchell died in Arnot on December 24th, aged 38. She had been an invalid for six years. She underwent a surgical operation in the Medico Chi hospital in Philadelphia three years ago and was unable to rally from the ordeal. Mrs. Mitchell, whose maiden name was Katherine Neal, was a daughter of Mr. Daniel Neal, of Lycoming county, and was the youngest of his nine children. She graduated from the Mansfield Normal School in 1884 and two years later became the wife of Mr. Howard A. Mitchell, who survives her. He is now a resident of Armstrong county, but was at one time before his marriage a resident of Wellsboro, where he was employed as a telegrapher. Mrs. Mitchell was the mother of two surviving children - a daughter, Louise, aged 12, and a son, Wesley, aged six. She is survived also by six sisters and two brothers. They are Mrs. Richard H. Smith and Mrs. W. E. Champaign, both of Wellsboro; Mrs. James E. Huey, of Tyrone, N.Y.; Mrs. Ellis Parker, of Morris; Mrs. David Ellison and Mrs. William Lewis, both of Blossburg, and Messrs. Alba Neal, of Blossburg, and A. R. Neal, of Arnot. Mrs. Mitchell's two children will, for the present, be members of the family o f Mr. and Mrs. Richard H. Smith.
