Scotland, operator at coal mine Mary E., wife, age 39, age 26 at 1st marriage Robert L., son, age 12 Jean E., daughter, age 11 William H., son, age 6 1944 - March 23 - Thurs. - Wellsboro Gazette: Blossburg Boys Meet in New Guinea Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Bower have received word that their son, Cpl. William Bower, has arrived safely somewhere in New Guinea. He took his basic training in California. In his letter he said his friend, Cpl. Lewis Crippen was stationed just three tents from him. The boys attended Blossburg school and Mansfield State Teachers College together. 1960 - Sept. 15 - Thurs. - The Agitator - Wellsboro: Wesley H. Bower, 69, of Blossburg, died Sunday, September 11, 1960. He was a retired coal operator; communicant of St. Luke's Episcopal Church, Blossburg. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mae Lewis Bower; sons, Robert of Minneapolis, Minn., William of Washington, N.J.; daughter, Mrs. Jean E . Metzger; sisters, Miss Margaret H. Bower and Miss Christine H. Bower of Blossburg; seven grandchildren. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, The Rev. Bruce Campbell officiating. Burial was in Arbor Cemetery. 1966 - May 19 - Wellsboro Gazette: Blossburg Robert Bower of Indianapolis, William Bower of Washington, N. J. and Mrs . Homer Metzger of Stillwater, Me., are here due to the illness of their mother, Mrs. Wesley Bower, a patient at the State hospital here. 1966 - June 23 - Thurs. - "The Wellsboro Gazette": Mrs. May Lewis Bower, of 302 Ruah St., widow of Wesley Bower, died Wednesday afternoon, June 15, 1966, in the Blossburg State Hospital, following a protracted illness. She was 76. Mrs. Bower was a member of St. Luke' s Episcopal Church. She was a former member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Born in Blossburg, she was the daughter of William J. and Angeline Neal Lewis. Surviving are two sons, Robert, of Minneapolis, Minn., and William of Washington, N.J.; a daughter, Mrs. Jean Metzger of Stillwater, Maine, and seven grandchildren. Funeral was held Saturday from St. Luke's Episcopal Church. The Rev. Harold Wilson officiated.
