Bower, 55, of 27 Hillcrest Avenue, Washington, N.J., a former Blossburg resident, died suddenly Monday, November 27, 1978. He was a member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church, Washington, N.J., a World War 11 veteran and a teacher in the Washington area school system for the past 30 years. Surviving are: his wife, Christine Thiemann Bower at home; son, John Bower at home; daughters, Miss Karen Bower at home, and Mrs. Kathleen Gallo of Mays Landing, N.J.; two grandsons; brother, Robert Bower of Minneapolis, Minnesota; sister, Mrs. Jean Metzger of Orono, Maine, and aunt, Miss Christine Bower of Blossburg. He is the second cousin of J . Robert Bower of Wellsboro. Friends are invited to call at the Auld Funeral Home, Blossburg, today, Wednesday, November 29, 1978 from 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral and committal services will be held there Thursday, November 30, 1978 at 11 a.m. with the Reverand David Smith officiating. Burial will be in Arbon Cemetery, Blossburg. 1988 - Nov. 23 - Wed. - Wellsboro Gazette: Mrs. Christine T. Bower, 65, of Washington, N.J., a Tioga County native , died Saturday, Nov. 12, 1988, in Praxis Nursing Home, Easton. Born at Morris Run May 26, 1923, she was a daughter of John and Victoria Higland Thiemann. Mrs. Bower was a substitute teacher in Washington Twp., N.J, and a junior librarian for 15 years at the Washington Public Library, retiring in 1985. A graduate of Mansfield State Teachers College, she had lived in Washington, N.J., for the past 40 years. Mrs. Bower was a member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church, Washington, and the church's vestry. She served as treasurer of the Episcopal Church Women and was director of church school. She was past president of the Washington Twp., N.J. Parent Teachers Assn., and was a member of the Washington Junior Women's Club. Her husband, William H. Bower, predeceased her in 1978. Surviving are a son, John W., of Phoenix, Ariz.; two daughters, Mrs. Kathleen B. Gallo, of Princeton, N.J., and Mrs. Karen B. Braun, of Washington, N.J., and two grandsons. A memorial service was held Sunday, Nov. 13, at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, Washington, N.J. Burial was made in Arbon Cemetery, Blossburg. Arrangements were made by the Ford Funeral home, Washington, N.J.
