 George served in WW1.
 1955 - Oct. 6 - Thurs. - The Agitator - Wellsboro:
 George S. Champaign, 55, native of Wellsboro, died October 1, 1955 at Napa, Calif. Mr. Champaign was born February 16, 1900, in Wellsboro, Pa., son of William E. and Emma Neal Champaign. He attended the Wellsboro public schools. As a lad he was an enthusiastic Boy Scout, eventually becoming an Eagle Scout. After he graduated from Wellsboro High School he attended for two years the University of Pennsylvania, Wharton School of Commerce and Finance. He was a member of DKE fraternity. At one time he was district game protector for Tioga County, and he was chief of the Bureau of Propagation, Pennsylvania Game Commission, with an office in Harrisburg . A Pittsburgh gas company operating in Tioga and Potter Counties employed him in various capacities. When he moved to Niagara Falls, he was engaged in the construction business. For the past four years he has been in construction work in Richmond, Calif. He is survived by two sisters, Miss Nellie Champaign of Wellsboro, and Mrs. Charles A. Snyder of Patton, Pa . Funeral will be held today at 2 p.m. at the Johnson and Tussey Funeral Home, Wellsboro, with burial in Wellsboro Cemetery.
