NJ, practical nurse 1921 - Josephine's death certificate on file at city clerk's office, Corning - she lived in Corning for 25 years. She died from cerebral apoplexy with high blood tension as secondary. Her parents names were unknown. 1921 - July 2 - Saturday - The Corning Leader: Mrs. Josephine Howard Neal died at her home at 176 Sly avenue at 6:25 o'clock last evening. She had been in falling health for the past two years. Mrs. Neal was born in St. Louis but had lived here for the past 25 years. She was a member of the P. O. A. and of Grace M. E. church. She was a well-known and respected woman. She is survived by her husband, a son Alva, at home, three step-sons, Lafayette of the city, Ulysses of Oklahoma and John of Los Angeles. The funeral will be held at the home tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. The Rev. M. J. Hill, pastor of the Grace M . E. church will officiate. Burial will be made in Coopers Plains.
