a. Note:   1880 - June 1 - census - Arnot - Bloss Twp. - John is living next to his dad. He is a miner and age 21, living with a wife, Nelly, age 22. 1899 - Tioga County Directory - John O. Stratton - post office, Arnot - extra engineer in mines - owns house at 10 Market Castle Garden 1899 - Sept. 6 - Wed. - Wellsboro Agitator: The home of John O. Stratton at Arnot was struck by lightning with ruinous effect during the storm of August 27th while Mr. Stratton's daughter was alone in the house. She escaped injury, however, chimneys were overturned, the plaster stripped from the walls, lath splintered, all the windows shattered, and furniture damaged. 1900 - census - Bloss Twp.: John, age 41, b. Jan. 1859, fireman (railroad), married 20 years Ellen, age 42, b. Dec. 1857, had one child, one child living. Gertrude, age 19, b. June 1880, milliner 1907 - Sept. 18 - Wed. - Wellsboro Agitator: John O. Stratton, engineer, was quite sick last week. J. H. Johnson had charge of the throttle for nos. 1 and 2 mines. 1908 - June 26 - Friday - "The Blossburg Advertiser": John O. Stratton died at his home in Arnot, on Tuesday, June 16, of a long illness from a complications of diseases. He is survived by his widow, one daughter, Miss Gertrude Stratton, of Williamsport, and one sister, Mrs. Myrtle Eddings of Newark, N. J. His funeral was held on Friday, June 19th, from his late residence. Rev. U. L. Lyle, minister of the Presbyterian church officiating. It was in charge of the Knights of the Golden Eagle, of which order he was a past chief. The remains were brought to Blossburg for burial in the Odd Fellows Cemetery.
