Note: Kelroy's parents were the Rufus Hopkins and Mary Jerusha Ent found in Peter Ent's Bible that lists Mary Jerusha Ent Hopkins as sister to Sally Ann Ent who married David Stratton. The Bible states Mary Ent was born June 2, 1815, died March 31, 1865. Kelroy was buried in Stull Cemetery, Union Twp., Tioga County, PA. From "Presidents, Soldiers, Statesmen": Kelroy Hopkins, son of Rufus and Mary (Ent) Hopkins, both of whom have long since passed away, was born Sept. 18, 1844, in Light Street, Columbia County, Pa, coming to Tioga County, Pa, in 1886; he married Dec. 26, 1868, Emma Stull, who was born in Union Township Aug. 15, 1852; her parents, Henry and Mary (Stratton) Stull are still living (1894). Eight children have blessed this marriage; Mary M., dec., Willie, John W., Carrie J., Fred B., Nettie M., Zellroy, and Melvin. Comrade Hopkins enlisted Nov. 23, 1861, at the age of 17 years at Bloomsburg, Columbia Co., Pa, as a private, joining Co D, 84th Pa V.I., Carroll's Brig., Sheild's Div., Feb. 1862. He was in hospital at Cumberland, MD, about four weeks with Typhoid fever; he was detached to guard supply train from Martinsburg, Va, about two weeks; he fought at Winchester, Fort Republic, Front Royal, 2nd Bull Run, Antietam, and several skirmishes; he was honorably discharged Sept., 1863, at Clitburn Hospital, Washington D. C.. A brother of his wife, Levi, served in the late war, a member of a Pa Regt. Comrade Hopkins is a member of Brown Post 171; he is by occupation a miner and may be addressed at Arnot, Pa. 1870 - August 2 - census - McIntyre Twp.:, Lycoming Co.: K. Hopkins, age 25, works in coal mine, b. PA Emma, age 17, b. PA Mary, age 1, b. PA 1880 - June 4 - census - McIntyre Village - living next door to John and Celestia Stratton: Kelroy, age 34, miner, he and parents b. PA Emma, wife, age 27, she and parents b. PA William, son, age 8, b. PA John, son, age 6, b. PA Carrie J., dau., age 4, b. PA Berton, son, age 2, b. PA 1898 - Dec. 30 - Friday - "The Blossburg Advertiser"; "Palo News"; A very pleasant surprise party was given at the home of K. Hopkins Christmas eve by their children which was in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Hopkins, it being the 30th anniversary of their marriage many useful presents were received. Those from out of town were John Hopkins and wife, Charles Stickler, wife and children, David Watkins, wife and family, Bert Hopkins, Will Hopkins, Thomas Roberts of Arnot, Ray Stickler, wife and child of Union, Lena Carl of Carpenter, Joseph Tebo, wife and daughter, C. R. Rolison, wife and daughter, Mrs. Saxon and daughters, Fred Ebersole, wife and family, Charles Condon and wife, Wm. Maley and wife, Will Ward and George Camp of Palo. All enjoyed a very pleasant evening. 1899 - Directory for Tioga County - Union Twp. section - Kelroy is listed as having a Palo, Lycoming Co. post office and engaged in mining. 1900 - June 7 - census - Union Twp.: living next door to Fred and lucy Ebersole Kelroy Hopkins, b. Sept. 1844, age 55, married 32 years, he and parents b. PA, farmer Emma, b. Aug. 1852, age 47, 8 children born to her and 7 living Nettie M., b. Dec. 1881, age 18 Zelroy, b. Jan. 1889, age 11 Melvin, b. Dec. 1892, age 7 NOTE: There is a William R. Gloekler buried in Grover Cemetery - 1867/1947 and his wife, Elizabeth Hopkins - 1874/1959.
