Note: The Star Gazette, Elmira, April 4, 2002 - Charles W. Hopkins, age 91, formerly of 13 Greatsinger Drive, Pine City, New York, passed away on Tuesday, April 2, 2002 at the Chemung County Nursing Facility. Charles was born in Canton, Pennsylvania, son of the late William and Margaret (Logan) Hopkins. Survivors include his wife Ruth of 66 years; sons, William B. (Claudia) Hopkins of Pine City and Robert A. (Patricia) Hopkins of SC; daughter Marybeth (Terry) Whitford of Elmira; 10 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Charles was a conductor and yardmaster of the Pennsylvania Railroad; he was also a member of the Union-Cooley Lodge #0095. Charles loved to fish, hunt and play golf. There will be no prior calling hours. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, April 4, at 11 AM at the James D. Barrett Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.
