Note: 2002 - unknown newspaper - Floresville, TX: Edith "Penny" Stratton Hoffman, 81, of Tahuya died June 2, 2002, in Bremerton. She was born Sept. 19, 1920, in Bloomington, Pa., to Clarence and Una (Roberts) Stratton. She graduated from Spangler High School in Spangler, Pa., in 1938 and received training at the Altoona School of Nursing in Altoona, Pa. She married Kenneth A. Hoffman on Jan. 15, 1944. Mrs. Hoffman served in the Navy during World War 11, achieving the rank of ensign. She later worked as a registered nurse for more than 30 years, retiring in 1983. She enjoyed square dancing. Survivors include her husband; two sons, Kenneth S., of McMinnville, Ore., and Jeffrey A., of Sarasota, Fla.; two brothers, Hames H. Stratton of St. Benedict, Pa., and Clair R. Stratton of Orange, Calif.; a sister, Olive M. Thompson of Allyn. She was preceded in death by a brother, Harold W. Stratton. No services will be held. Arrangements are under the direction of Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.
