 Announcement of the betrothal of Miss Beverly Ann Canis to Gerald E. Butters is made by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Canis, Chester St. Miss Canis is employed in the office of the Gierston Tool Co, Inc. She is a 1948 graduate of Southside High School. Mr. Butters, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Butter of Milan, Pa, is serving in the Navy aboard the USS Nespelen.
  "Jerry" was a resident of Milan, PA, when he and Beverly were married. He was a son of Clarence Butters of Milan and he had a brother, William.

 Butters Beverly A. Canis - Age 61, 720 Chester St., at home, January 1, 1992 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was the daughter of the late Kenneth and Martha Canis. She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Marilyn and Louis Grace of Elmira; daughters and sons-in-law, Deborah and James Lord of Windsor, CT, Cynthia and Ed Rittenhouse of Pine City; a daughter, Pamela Butters of Elmira; Grandchildren, Jared Verity, Aaron Lord, Brian Lord, Chad Rittenhouse and Beth Butters; aunt, Muriel Canis; several cousins and many nieces and nephews. She was an employee of the Marine Midland Bank, an active member of Lake Street Presbyterian Church for many years where she served as an Elder, Deacon, Church School Teacher and a member of Women of lake Street. The family invites friends and relatives to join them for a Memorial Service at Lake Street Presbyterian Church on Saturday, January 4, 1992 at 2:00 PM. Her Pastor, the Rev. John McLaren will officiate. The family will meet with friends in the church parlor following the Service. Flowers will be provided by the family, those wishing to make Memorial Contributions may do so, in her name, to Lake Street Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund, 300 Lake St., Elmira NY, 14901.
