a. Note:   James M. and Eliza appear in the 1850 Daviess County Census. Lists James M. as a laborer. They appear in the Daviess County 1860 Census with 5 children. The 1880 McLean County Census lists Eliza only (James died in 1878) with 4 children and living in the same household as James T. and Susan Austin with their 9 month old child. Eliza was born in Kentucky, father born in Virginia and her mother in North Carolina. According to Poplar Grove Primitive Baptist Cemetery records, his name is James N. instead of James M., but other records indicate it was James M. Daviess County marriage records show his name was James Madison.
