Note: Taken from Widnes Weekly News July 25th 1896 P4 C5 Widnes Library (micro film) A marriage in which considerable interest was manifested was solemnised at Victoria Road Chapel on Monday morning by the Rev.J.W.Silcock, when Mr Alfred Parker, Youngest son of Mr T.Parker of Hough Green, was united in the bonds of matrimony with Miss Alice Parker, eldest daughter of Mr.J.Anderson of Milton Road. The bride, who was given away by her brother Mr.G.Anderson, wore a dress of grey cloth trimmed with white silk and chiffon, a sash to match and a large white picture hat. She was accompanied by her sister, Miss Annie Anderson, who wore a green dress trimmed with chiffon and a black picture hat, adorned with black chiffon and pink flowers. The bride and bridesmaid carried beautiful bouquets, the gifts of the bridegroom. The wedding presents, about 50 in number, included an Oxford Teachers Bible, from the officers and teachers of Lacy Street Sunday School, with which the bride had been connected for many years, and a plaque in plush frame from members of the brides class. Alfred Parker married again and emigrated to New Zealand about five years after Alice`s death in 1897 The daughter Alice was brought up by the Platt family after the death of her maternal grandmother.
