Note:   QUIT CLAIM DEED RECORDED IN DEED BOOK 9 1/2 PAGES 406-7 BURKE, CO., GEORGIA Dated December 5th 1846 GEORGIA, BURKE COUNTY Know all by these presents, that I Rhesa Hatcher of the City of Jackson and County of Hinds,in the State of Mississippi the only son of Rhesa Hatcher, who was the son of Josiah Hatcher of said County of Burke and State aforesaid, by the first wife of the said Josiah Hatcher deceased, do hereby acknowledge to have received from Valentine Hatcher, John G. Hatcher, James M. Hatcher, Joseph A. Graves, in the right of his wife Emily formerly Emily Hatcher, Martha Hatcher, Victor LaTaste in right of his wife Elizabeth Ann formerly Elizabeth Ann Hatcher and Jeptha N. Hatcher, the sum of One Thousand Dollars. Deed recites that under date of September 12th, 1822 that a deed was made by Josiah Hatcher to his wife Sarah Hatcher, the then wife or said Josiah Hatcher and to the children of the said Josiah Hatcher and Sarah Hatcher therein above named four children and to the said Rhesa Hatcher the son aforesaid of the said Rhesa deceased as aforesaid and grandson of the said Josiah Hatcher. Hard Copy on File ********************************************************* Courtesy of Nel Hatcher 1846: State of Mississippi Yazoo County} Personally appeared before the undersigned an acting Justice of the peace in and for the said County & State aforesaid duly commissioned and qualified according to Law Seaborn Collins a resident of said County & State who being duly sworn deposeth and saith that he is acquainted with Rhesa Hatcher a Citizen of the City of Jackson Hinds County & State of Mississippi and has known the said Hatcher from the time of his birth & that he is the only Son and child of Rhesa Hatcher Senr Decd who was killed by Anderson Turpin in the State of Georgia about the year AD 1810. said Rhesa Hatcher Senr. decd. was the son of Josiah Hatcher, and Sarah Collins was the wife of the said Rhesa Hatcher Sr decd. That said Rhesa Hatcher Senr decd. in consequence of a wound received on his head by a blow from a Hoe used by the said Anderson Turpin said Seaborn Collins further deposeth that the said Rhesa Hatcher Senr. decd. at the time of his Marriage with the said Sarah Collins lived either at Mount Enon in the County of Richmond or in Burke County - both of said Counties being in the State of Georgia but to the best of affiants(?) recollection he lived at Mount Enon where he had a Store and went frequently to his Fathers who lived in the Burke County aforesaid. And the said affiant(?) again & further deposeth that he knows the said Rhesa Hatcher Jr resident of Jackson & Hinds County as aforesaid is the Rhesa Hatcher who is the only son & child of the said Rhesa Hatcher Senr decd and the said Sarah Collins who is also now decd. Dougharty Justice of the peace The State of Mississippi Yazoo County} I Charles M Henderson Clerk of the Probate Court in and for said County & State aforesaid hereby Certify that Geoge W. Dougharty is and was at the time of taking the affidavit of Seaborn Collins an acting Justice of the Peace for said County duly commissioned at that time and all his acts in the premises are and should be entitled to full faith and Credit. Henderson whose name is signed to the within is and was Clerk of the Probate Court in and for said County and State aforesaid at the time of signing the same duly Commissioned and qualified and full faith and credit ought to be given to his actings & doings as Such. Personally appeared before me Garrett Goodloe a Justice of the Peace in and for said County duly Commissioned and qualified Nancy Robinson a resident of said County who being duly sworn deposeth and saith that she is acquainted with Rhesa Hatcher a resident of the City of Jackson in Hinds County in said State that she has known him from his childhood and that he is the only son & child of Rhesa Hatcher deceased formerly of the State of Georgia, and Sarah Collins his wife, that the said Rhesa Hatcher deceased was killed about the time of the birth of their said son. Nancy Robinson Sworn to & subscribed before me this 6th day of November A.D. 1846 Garrett Goodloe Justice Peace J.P. The State of Mississippi Marion County} Personally appeared before the undersigned Justice of the Peace in and for said County and State aforesaid Benjamin Youngblood a resident of the County and State aforesaid who being by me first duly sworn deposeth and saith that he is well acquainted with Rhesa Hatcher Junr who is no[w] a resident of the City of Jackson in said State and knows that the said Rhesa Hatcher is the son and only child of Rhesa Hatcher Senr deceased and who was killed some thirty Six Years ago in the State of Georgia. The deponent further saith that he is a Brother in Law to the Mother of said Rhesa Hatcher Junior and knows that the father of said Rhesa Hatcher Junr. was the son of Josiah Hatcher decd. late of the County of Burke State of Geogia - All of which he verily believes is correct to the best of his knowledge and belief. (formerly Eliza J. P. Coggins, daughter of Elizabeth Bass) - both of Hinds Co., Mississippi, 27 Dec 1847, appoints Elizabeth Bass of said Hinds Co., attorney, "to go to the County of Northampton in the State of North Carolina" to receive "the legacy bequeathed by [blank] Bass first to Elizabeth Bass during her natural life, and to the heirs of her body after her death..."
