Elizabeth Jackson Sworn before me the 19th day of February 1798 Lewis Gardner R. P. ************************************************ 1822: Georgia, 24 Jan 1821, Recorded 14 Jan 1822: Elizabeth Jackson Tankersley is attempting to obtain $6030 in three notes owed by Nicholas Ware for 355 acres. This indenture made this twenty fourth day of January in the year of our lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty-one, between Nicholas Ware and Elizabeth Tankersly of the County of Columbia and State of aforesaid of the one part and Elizabeth Tankersly of the County of Columbia and State aforesaid of the other part. Researcher Joe Tankersley studied the court records concerning the estate of George Green Tankersley and concludes that they were trying to keep his estate and his widow's estate from her first marriage separate and to divide the land fairly. On January 3, 1821, the heirs of George Green and Elizabeth Jackson Tankersley agreed to a division of property with all bonds, notes, etc. of the estate of her first husband, Williams Jackson, to be delivered to Elizabeth and "on payment of $10,000, will relinquish all claim to estate of Tankersley to said Elizabeth." George's heirs relinquished all title to a 335-acre tract of land for $6,050 that had been left to Jackson's three children, Richard, Marian and Williams F. who had sold it to George Green. They also sold Elizabeth 269 1/2 acres for $3,500.25. Source: Columbia County, Georgia. Early Court Records. Copied by Mrs. F.F. Baker. Albany, Ga.: Georgia Pioneers, 1967, p. 104-105.
