Note: John Bush. born circa 1745, married about l774 Mary ("Polly") Miller, b ca. 1756 to 1760. daughter of Jacob Miller III. and his first wife, possibly the daughter of George Koonce, of Craven Co.. N.C. born ca. 1696, died 1772, or the daughter of George Kornegay or the sister of George Fisher. Jacob Miller married (2) Anna Civilla Franck, widow of John Isler after March 29,1757. In the Craven County Court Minutes for 1712 (Col. Rec. Saunders) is written, "Whereas Jacob Miller. Esq. Declared to ye Court Jacob Miller, Esq. hath in his keeping Two Orphan Children. viz.: George Kneegee (Kornegay) and George Cones [Koonce, Coontz, Koontz) and it ys ordered yt ye said Jacob Miller, Esq. Teaches ye aforesaid Orphans to read and write before ye said Orphans arrive to ye age of Twenty one years, order to be recorded and it ys recorded." George Koonce died in 1772. On microfilm in the Archives at Raleigh, is a part of his administration papers, showing sons as George and Jacob. No other children mentioned nor the name of his wife. In Book F., Craven Co., N.C.. page 50. Sept. 25, 1788 Phillip Koonce bought a slave for 70 pds and the witness were George Koonce and Rebecca Koonce. It has been known for generations in Edgefield and Barnwell Counties, South Carolina, that the wife "Ann" named in the will of Jacob Miller (III.) 26 Feb. 1775. original in Edgefield. S.C. Bundle 43. pkg. 1770 and recorded in Book A, p. 33 at Sept. Court 1792 when his wife died, was Anna Civilla Franck The children named in the will were: George Miller, Joseph Miller, Civil Miller, Mary Bush (her oldest child was born 1775), Rebecca Norris (oldest child born 1772), Ann Miller (who signed all legal papers and her will as Ann Sebell, Anna [Civilla] Tillman] and David Miller "when he arrives at age of eighteen years." It was believed that all of these children were children of wife Anna Civilla Franck. Recently, however, in Craven County Deed Bk. No. 16, page 30, a deed has been found, dated February 28, 1769, to Willam Randall from Joseph Brock "of Dobbs County and wife Mary only surviving child and heir of John Isler," conveying a "part of 1175 acres granted to Martin Franck 15 June 1711," whose daughter "Annacivilla Franck intermarried with aforesaid John Isler and by him she had the aforesaid Mary party to this deed." This shows that Anna Civilla Franck born ca. 1723, married first John Isler. George Miller, brother of Mary Bush, "died September 23, 1805 aged 47 years." Rebecca and Mary Miller were at least 13 years old when married and probably several years older, hence they were born before 1758 and 1761, respectively Therefore it seems logical that George Miller, Rebecca Miller and Mary Miller were not children of Anna Civilla Franck Isler Miller, but of a former wife of Jacob Miller.
