Notes
a. Note:   What has been determined at this time is that Matilda Hatcher, mother of Josiah A, lived in Burke Co as early as 1827 in Gordon's District when she registered for the GA Lottery. This district may have been named after the John Gordon who became the administrator of her estate in 1842 and the guardian of her child, Josiah A. John Gordon lived only a few houses from Edward J Hatcher in 1840. On the other side of Edward, 3-4 houses away, was Elizabeth Brown. In 1850 the now of age Josiah Alsten was living with Ann Griffin and Elizabeth Brown.
