Tucker of Dallas, Texas. The ancestry of Bezaleel Brown, Jr.is provided by an article in The Virginia Genealogist, Vol 13, p. 77-78, by Mrs. Bessie Z. Pettibon of Austin, Texas. Proof of Mrs. Pettibon's information is provided by the will of Benjamin Brown, Sr. in Albemarle County, Va.Mrs. Pettibon's article stated that the follow entries were made between 1830 and 1835 in a Bible which, in 1927, was in possession of Mrs. Lavinia Wetherred: My great grandfather, John Brown, came from England and settled in Hanover County, Virginia, exact time is not known to me. Benjamin Brown, my grandfather, came from England with his father as above stated and settled and married in Hanover County, Va. I think his first wifes maiden name was Wilson, and he had five children by her: Benjamin, Billy, Bartlett, Lucinda and Agnes. He lost his wife and married Sarah Thompson, had two children (Lucretia and Barzalia) and in 1747 he moved to Walnut Level, where he had Benajah in 1748, Bernard, my father was born 28 Jan. 1750 and died Feb. 1800, Bernis born 1752, Bezaleel born 29 July 1754 and died 9 Jan. 1829, Brightberry died Feb. 18??, Dabney was born 18 June 1751 and died 22 June 1773. Bernard married Elizabeth, daughter of John and Anna Harris Dabney. . . . Reubin Dabney Brown The family Bible listed birth dates of the children of Bernard Brown who married Elizabeth Dabney as well as the children of Bezaleel Brown, Sr. and his wife, Mary Thompson, daughter of Nathaniel Thompson and Anna Dabney. The birthdates of these children are included in the genealogy of the Brown family later in this chapter.Included among the children listed by Reubin Dabney Brown in the bible referenced in Mr. Pettibon's article, is Bezaleel Brown, Jr., our direct ancestor, who is listed in Mary Elizabeth Harris' bible with a birth date matching the date provided by Reubin Dabney Brown.
