Note: n 1745, at age 52, Benjamin Brown, Sr. began his move to what is now known as Brown's Cove in Albemarle County, VA. Benjamin made the following gifts to the sons of his first marriage, Benjamin, Jr., William and Bartlett, 28 May 1745: Louisa County Virginia Deeds. P. 178 � 181. ���for good will of a fatherly love to (son) Bartlett Brown land of quantity unknown in the fork of the Moorman�s River.� ��(same) to son William Brown land on both sides of the North Fork of Moorman�s River.� ��to son, Benjamin Brown.; land in Louisa co. on both sides of the North Fork of Moorman�s River on the Louisa Co. line. This later was incorporated into Albemarle County. *********************************************** Benjamin BROWN (JR) , born abt 1731 in Albemarle County, Virginia; died 1781 in St Martin's Parish, Hanover Co., Virginia. He married Susanna ((---)) Brown , born aft 1732 in Virginia. REF: VA Gen. Vol. 10, pgs. 22-24 pg. 48 for Will 1 Feb 1781 and proved 5 Apr 1781 is found among the records of the Kentucky Court of Appeals, Frankfort, Book V, p. 388. Benjamin Brown, Jr. was a clergyman in the Revolutionary Army, a member of Light Horse Harry Lee's troop. Bezaleel Brown, Sr., along with his brother Brightberry Brown, were captains in the Revolutionary Army. Another brother, Bernard Brown, was a soldier of that army, whose principal duty was to carry dispatches for General Washington from New York to Charleston, South Carolina, and was chosen for that service because of his wonderful powers of endurance and his trust worthiness, and of whom (it is told) General Washington said, "he could make his trips quicker than any other man, in the service he had tried."
