Note: 1779: Deed Book 1A, Page 231 Barnwell County Courthouse, Barnwell, SC The State of South Carolina Orangburg District This Indenture made the sixth Day of September in the Year of our Lord one Thousand seven Hundred and seventy nine Between Elkanah Green and Rachell his wife of the State and District aforesaid of the one part and Daniel Tredaway of the same State and District of the other part. Witnesseth that the said Elkanah Green for and in consideration of the sum of Ten Shillings Current money of the said State to him in hand paid by the said Daniel Tradaway at and before the sealing and Delivery of these presents the Receipt whereof the Elkanah Green doth Acknowledge and himself fully satisfied and contended hath granted Bargained and Sold and by these presents doth Grant Bargain and sell unto the said Daniel Tredaway all that Plantation or Tract of Land containing one Hundred Acres situate by and being in the State aforesaid on a Branch of Savanah River call Tinkers Creek Beding and Bounding South east on said Creek and Southwest part on Lands survey for Rich' Hall and part on vacant Lands on all other sides on vacant Lands at the time of the original survey which was by letters Patent Granted to Thomas Willson bearing Date the Thirteenth Day of May 1768 and surveyd the 25th Day of May 1768 to the said Frederick Lee and the Reversion and Reversions & Remainder and Remainders Rents and Profits of the same with their and every of their Appurtenances to have and to hold the said Hundred Acres of Land and Premises above mentioned and every part and parcel thereof unto the said Daniel Tradaway his Heirs Executors Administrators and Assigns from the Day of the Date hereof for and During and unto the full End and term of one whole Year from thence next Ensuing and fully to be compleat and Ended Yielding and Paying therefore at the End of the said Form one pepper corn if the same should be lawfully Demanded to the Intent that by Virtue of these presents and by force of the Statue for Transfering Uses into Possession he the sd Daniel Tredaway may be in actual Possession of all and singular the Lands and premices above Mentioned with the Appurtenances and thereby be Enabled to accept and take a Grant and Release of the Reversions and Inheritance thereof which is Intended to be made to him and his Heirs Granted and Released by another Indenture bearing Date the Day next after the Day of the Date hereof to be only proper use and behoof of him the sd Daniel Tredaway his Heirs and assigns his Heirs and Assigns forever.
