Note: ---------1911 from the State of Wisconsin, where he was born and spent the greater portion of his life. But although not a native of Pennsylvania he is descended from a Pennsylvania family, his father having been Aurelius Jason Adams, who was born in that State in 1845. Indeed, on all sides his ancestors were associated with Pennsylvania, his father's mother having been a member of the prominent Mason family of Bradford County. William Mauger Adams, the sixth child and third son of Aurelius J. and Sarah J. Mauger Adams was born at Medford, Taylor County, Wisconsin, Massachusetts 28, 1882. He received his education in the local schools of his native place, and being of an unusually industrious and ambitious nature made the most of the rather slender advantages offered in these institution. Subsequently, he took a course in the commercial and buriness college at Stevens Pointe, Wisconsin. Possessing the same enterprising nature as his father before him, Mr. Adams has since that time Made his home in a number of different places, in each of which he has been highly successful and taken an active part in the life about him. His first employment was with the Orr & Lacken Company of Chicago, Illinois, where he held a position in the accounting department for about a year. He then went to Genoa, Illinois, where he reMained for about five years in the employ of the Eureka Electric Company. He then returned to Chicago and spent two years more in that city in the employ of the Electri Supply Company. It was February, 1911, that Mr. Adams came to Jeannette, Pennsylvania and entered the service of the Northwestern Expanded Metal Company, where he had been offered the position of superintendent. This post was regarded by the company as one of the most valued members of it's staff. On May 8, 1907, Mr. Adams was united in Marriage with Coral McCadden of Fon du lac, Wisconsin, a daughter of J.L. McCadden and Angie Belle Crippen McCadden, old and well known residents of that place. To Mrs. & Mr. Adams seven children have been born. Mr. Adams is an ardent student of Socialism and his affiliated himself with the Socialist party in Jeannette and the surrounding region. He has taken a leading role in politics thereabouts and has served a term as county committeeMan for one year. During the time that he was a resident of Genoa, Illinois; he served as a member of the council there, from 1906 to 1908. He is a member of the Blue Lodge of Genoa, No. 288, Ancient Free and Accepted Massons.
