Post NJH obit 22 Dec 1910: EDSALL, WILLIAM WISNER d. 13th in Vernon 95 years Warwick Valley Dispatch 21 Dec 1910 WILLIAM WISNER EDSALL Mr. William Wisner Edsall, an esteemed and life long rresident of Vernon, passed away Tuesday morning, Dec. 13th at the mature age of 95 years 5 months and 13 days. Mr. Edsall had been confined to his bed about two years owing to general decline which he bore with Christian resignation and patience. He was born June 30th 1815, a son of RICHARD 6th and ANNA WISNER EDSALL, being the last of a family of thirteen. Feb 12th 1850 he married ADALINE WOOD, who died in 1883. Five daughters survive him- Mrs. FREEMAN MASKER of Amity; Mrs. CHARLES ANDERSON of Howell's; Mrs. JAMES H. ROE of Edenville; Mrs. MELVINA HARRISON and Miss JOSEPHINE at home. Mr. Edsall was a good friend and neighbor, being ever ready to assist those in need. He was a liberal contributor toward the erection of the Vernon ME Church of which he has been a long member. Mr. Edsall's ancestry is a long lived English family. members of which settled in New Amsterdam now NY in 1648, and a branch of the family located in the Vernon valley. His funeral was held Friday afternoon at his residence being conducted by Rev. JM Robinson of the Vernon ME Church. The burial was in Warwick cemetery. He was born in June 1815, a son of RICHARD EDSALL and ANNA WISNER. He was born in this town and spent the last sixty or more years of his life on the farn where he died. His wife died about 25 years ago. Mr. EDsall was a man of great energy. He was a raiser of horses and always owned some good ones. He was noted for his daring way of breaking colts, taking great risks and he had many narrow escapes from railway trains and with his horses. He broke in several green colts after he was over eighty years old. Mr. Edsall is survived by his five daughters: MALVENA, widow of IRA HARRISON; ADELINE, wife of JAMES ROE, and DELIA, wife of FREEMAN MASKER, residing in this town; JANE, married a Mr. ANDERSON and lives in Unionville; JOSEPHINE at home. Mr. Edsall was a man of great energy and an untiring worker and of wonderful stamina. At his old age an attack of pneumonia found him too feeble to survive. Edsall of Vernon, were recently entered by thieves who took one of his horses out for a midnight airing, and he was found on the road the next morning. A few nights after his buffalo robe and harness were stolen."
