Belles Warwick Advertiser obit 13 Feb 1902 - THOMAS SEARS EDSALL Mr. Thomas Sears Edsall, another of the esteemed and life long residents of our town, passed away last Thursday morning, Feb. 6th, at the mature age of nearly 76 years, after an illness of a few weeks. His health had been impaired owing to one or more severe accidents which befell him, and heart failure and a general decline was the cause of death. He was born in the town in July, 1826, a son of RICHARD 6th and ANNA WISNER EDSALL, being the youngest of a family of thirteen, three of whom are still living-Mrs. CATHERINE DREW, of Newburgh; SIDNEY, of Amity and WISNER of Vernon, NJ-all their ages united reach 249 years. He married PHEBE A. MILLER and is survived by his wife and eight children- Mrs. D.E.BROME, Mrs. CHRISTIE, and Miss ESTELLA, of NYC; Mrs. MATTHEWS of Deckertown; BURT and HENRY of NY; JOHN at home and Dr. A.W.EDSALL of Warwick. Mr. Edsall's ancestry is a long lived English stock, members of which settled in New Amsterdam, now NY, in 1648, and a branch of the family located in the Vernon Valley at about the time of the DeKays settled there. His funeral was held on Sunday afternoon and was largely attended, the service at the home being conducted by Rev. C.A. Coons, of Edenville. The burial was in Warwick cemetery.
