Being unfit for work he was referred to the Veterans' Hospital at Jefferson Barracks where he subsequently received a pension. He did not work from that time on. Leo lived in St. Louis, Overland, Maryland Heights, Kimmswick, Times Beach, and Pomona, CA. He lived in Times Beach from 1949 to 1979 and was exposed to Dioxin that was in the oil that was put on the dirt roads.
