Co. 164 Adams St. I have been led to believe this Gust Ciavarry, was a family friend and not her husband. He was married to a woman who lived over sea's and was comming later to Ionia. 164 Adams St. was a Apt. House. This man was called Guss, and later he ran a store on Adams St. 1929 - 1930 CIAVARRY GUST (MINNIE L.) wks YR. Furn. Co. 164 Adams St. Downing G. Main St. In 1945 MINNIE DOWNING, took a trip to the Calf. She was going to Marrie a man she had met in Ionia who was now station in the U.S. Navy. His name was MR. PICKENS. She took along her grandson DONALD EDWIN DONALLY, who was about 5 years old then and in her care. He well remembers the trip. The marriage never happen because MR. PICKENS, had a heart attack and died. From the time she returned from Calf. she never left Michigan again. Remaining in Ionia the rest of her life. She would never talk about any of her Husbands, and never about ORA G. DONALLY, If there really was a man by this name. Obituaries of MINNIE L. DOWNING, taken from the Ionia New Paper dated Oct 3, 1978 IONIA--MINNIE L. DOWNING, 88, formerly of Union Street, Ionia, died Saturday evening at the Ionia Manor. She was born April 1, 1890 at Westville, Illinois and the daughter of MR. and MRS. CHARLES DOWNING. MRS. DOWNING was a resident of Ionia for many years and had been employed at the Ypsilanti-Reed Furniture Company and the Pescke Packing Corporation. She is survived by one son, DONALD G. DONALLY of Lansing; 3 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Funeral services were held 10 am Tuesday at the Meyers-Roetman funeral with Rev. Roy Pitts officiating. Burial was at the Balcom Cemetery.
