Note: d "The Stone House" in SE Rawlins Co. (dated above the door, "1885"). He became a fruit farmer and cattle raiser. Part of the land Edgar owned was deeded to him by George Capps. George had come here to escape Belle Starr, who was leading a band of renegade Indians, and had sworn to kill Goerge because he didn't approve of her cruel and vicious ways of killing and burning the homes of settlers. George had even dug a cave on his property to hide from her. The cave is still there today. George heard Bell was on her way through here and he was afraid she would kill him. He signed the deed to Edgar with an "X" in June of 1888, left, headed north, never to be heard from again. All the work Edgar did with one crippled hand which he had burned in a fireplace as a child.
