a. Note:   e ship "Pink Plaisance" in Rotterdam. They arrived at Philadelphia on September 21, 1732. Christian was 63 years old and his wife Ells Marty, was 60. With them came three other members of the Martin Family: son Martin, possibly his 3 childen; Fravin, aged 16, and Fronik, under 16, Martin Marta (child). Christian Martin was born in Switzerland, came to Germany and was imprisoned for many years for his faith. It has been told from generation to generation that he advised his family, including his married son David, to move to America. Christian came over later after his sons. He brought along a German scythe which was very valuable in mowing the heavy green swaths of grass this Garden of Eden produced. Christian was able to work and being a giant in stature and strength he took the scythe and helped mow the grass. He took good care of his body and was never sick in his life. First person may be Andrew or Andreas. Different books say different things. In the Weaverland Cemetery Book the date he arrived is 30 Sep 1727/32. Memorial erected to his remembrance by his descendants in 1947. This was the original David Martin who owned a large tract of land west of Weaverland Church, north of the road going west. This farm is now owned by Martin and Martha Zeiset. Martha is in direct line of David Martin.
